Green Weekend: Heaton Park

Last summer's long weekend we spent in Heaton Park in Manchester. We had to take two trains to get there but the park is awesome. It is huge with many facilities such as theme park, reservoirs, some kind of farm, where people can see different animals like cows, lames, goats etc. We were very lucky because we had great weather despite the fact that we are in England ;]. We played in some games like bouncing back the ball or frisbee; ate ice creams and drank beers. About 6pm we came back to home really happy that we discovered this place.

Speedway in England

As a huge fan of speedway I had to see the competition in England. In Manchester we have Belle Vue Aces Speedway club and this year is the 80th anniversary of speedway in Belle Vue. Mariusz and me decided to see how everything looks here. We were a little bit shocked, at the beginning we couldn't find stands ;] So we found a great place on the grass, from where we were watching the tournament. We saw world class riders like: Jason Crump, Scott Nicholls, Leigh Adams, Joe Screen, Charlie Gjedde and young talents: Jurica Pavlic, Tai Woffinden ,Patrick Hougaard and Lewis Bridger. The competition was great, in every heat there was a lot of fights, battles, overtakes. The atmosphere on the stadium was very pleasantness and we really liked this kind of doing speedway.

Heat 10: Wright, Screen, Hougaard, Doolan

Leigh Adams won the whole competition after additional heat with Scott Nicholls. Charlie Gjedde was third. The event was very exciting for me, and I'm going to see some more english speedway.

Summer in England ;]

I am currently in Manchester, exactly in Salford. In early 90's Salford was one of the most dangerous and ugly district in Manchester. There was a port and many factories. However, now this place has changed totally. City council invested a lot of money to renovate this part of the city and to make it safe. Now it is the most modern district in Manchester, new architecture, Old Trafford stadium and Quays make this place really interesting. However they didn't change one thing - weather... it is exactly the same like 50 years ago... ;]
